South American Atlantic Services (known locally as SAAS) was set up in 2005 by Consolidated Fisheries Ltd to provide a much needed container link between the Falkland Islands and South American ports. Using the MV Scout, the service allows local companies to ship containers out of Stanley and link them into the worldwide distribution network thus providing Falkland Island industries with the shipping flexibility required to develop and expand their businesses. Since 2010 CFL has welcomed new partners in the operation which has allowed the company to expand its range of services to the customers.
Falklands Fish Farming Limited
CFL owns 50% of a company which is developing fish farming of indigenous species in the Falkland Islands. Local inshore waters are ideally suited to aqua cultural activities and whilst still in its infancy, it represents good future prospects for diversification and development in the Islands.
