Falklands Conservation Charity Ball
CFL is the principle sponsor of the Falklands Conservation Ball, an annual event to raise funds for a local conservation group. The event has become one of the highlights of the year on the social calendar and represents a key source of core-funding to the organization.
CFL has worked closely with Falklands Conservation over the years to develop environmentally-friendly practices within the longline fishery. This culminated in the Falklands National Plan of Action which was launched in 2004 and placed the Falkland Islands at the forefront of seabird protection around the world.
Funding for the Badminton Club
A sponsorship representing £25,000 over 5 years was recently awarded to the local Badminton club to help them develop the skills, abilities and experience of its members. The Club has made great strides over the past few years and performed very well in the NatWest Island Games in Bermuda in June 2013 and will be taking part in the Glasgow Commonwealth Games in 2014.
Maritime Section of the Dockyard Museum
In 2014 CFL became life-time partners of the Maritime Section of new Dockyard Musuem. The £25,000 sponsorship package has enabled the Museum to draw on the vast maritime heritage of the Islands, from the days of sailing ships to the establishment of a modern fishing industry to create a world-class display that will thrill visitors. CFL, as the first local company to operate its own fishing vessels, and the first to achieve MSC certification for its fishery, has its own well-deserved place in the display.
